McKee Fehl recently completed The High Commission of India’s new state-of-the-art chancery, executive accommodation and sophisticated entertainment space in Wellington’s Parliamentary Precinct.
This high-profile consular space will play a pivotal role enhancing cultural, diplomatic and economic relationships between India and New Zealand.
The diverse nature of the brief included public and private spaces across 5 levels. This includes an entertainment hall, performance facilities, a centralised courtyard, business hub and apartment suites. The incorporation of tracery screens and jali stone, shipped from India, will further foster a unique Kiwi-Indian identity for the chancery.
McKee Fehl took possession of the site in September 2019 after the project was left dormant for 16 months. We worked closely with Warren and Mahoney Architects and structural and services engineers, Beca, to complete works in June 2022.
Located in the close proximity of CBD Wellington, the project required extremely careful planning and strategic logistics, on and offsite, to ensure minimal disruption to central city movement.
We were very proud to be involved in the unveiling of this stunning space at the official blessing and opening ceremony at the beginning of June 2022.
The dedication and hard work that has gone into creating this beautiful space makes us very proud.
Thank you so much to our McKee Fehl team, the client, contractors, and suppliers who made this project possible.
