It was easy to miss the Chinese Mission Hall, tucked away between Frederick and Haining Street, however this gothic revival-style church is one of only two buildings associated with the early Chinese settlement in Wellington.
Located on the same site as our Frederick Street Apartment development, the building underwent seismic strengthening and refurbishment works to preserve this rare 1905 structure, which served as a reminder of the former character in this part of the city.
While the future use of this building had yet to be confirmed at the time, the scope of works included:
