Frederick Street Apartments

McKee Fehl Constructors were proud to have been the design and build partner for this social housing development by Kirva Trust. This is a not-for-profit project created 75 new homes for people in need and delivered significant immediate and long-term public benefit by providing accommodation and support services for Wellington's most vulnerable communities. The development was intended to provide permanent accommodation and wrap-around support for people experiencing homelessness, those facing financial disadvantaged, and individuals with physical disabilities and autism.

This project was completed in July 2023.

Key facts:

• 75 apartments, each approximately 50 m², with a 5 m² private deck
• Apartments were designed to target 6 Homestar rating
• Two solar powered lifts were installed
• Each apartment was fitted with a hot water radiator heater, supplied by solar panels and boosted via a heat exchange system
