Public Trust Hall

131 Lambton Quay

Following their successful efforts to restore and strengthen The Public Trust Building, the McKee Fehl team has set their eyes on a new challenge: to transform the previously vacant and splendid ground floor into Wellington’s next best venue.

Centrally located in downtown Wellington, the Public Trust Hall will be the venue of choice for concerts, conferences and corporate functions or private parties, banquets and weddings.

Set in elegant Edwardian Baroque architecture, this high-grade refurbishment will create a luxury function space that can accommodate up to 300 people (theatre style) or 200 (banquet style).

The renovation will reflect and celebrate the original heritage and architectural character of the 1908 building. The 5-meter-high walls, feature mouldings and arched windows collectively enhance a sense of luxury and style rarely found in contemporary venues.

Soon available for hire, the Public Trust Hall will include:

  • Main Grand Hall with (400 m2) entertainment space including a gallery with lounge style seating, stylish facilities and a stairwell to the basement meeting room, catering kitchen and additional bathrooms.
  • Well-equipped catering kitchen – basement (75 m2)
  • Basement meeting room and toilets – basement (170 m2)

Key features:

  • Wireless lighting and AV set-up.
  • Latest audio-visual technology.
  • Williams Sound Wavecast Assistive Hearing system for excellent acoustics.
  • Accessible access via a lift from the Lambton Quay lobby.
  • The catering kitchen in the basement will feature: a seven-tray combi-oven, six burner electric range with static oven under, commercial dishwasher/steriliser, cool room, bench space for food plating and an allowance for additional cooking equipment as required by the caterer. Service entrance via the loading bay off Stout Street.
  • Main entrance via the marble steps and heritage listed tiled foyer on the corner of Lambton Quay and Stout Street.

It is anticipated that construction at the Public Trust Hall will be completed in October 2019.
